Hello! My name is myekul. I am a web developer with a passion
for
building expansive static sites
from raw HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
~
As a teenager in the mid-2010s, my hobbies included making music, playing video games, and... creating spreadsheets. Something about it was very theraputic. As the world grew more and more complex, it felt like I needed a way to keep track of various aspects of my life. So I compiled datasets and crafted aesthetically-pleasing spreadsheets out of them.
With spreadsheets, I kept track of the movies I watched, my favorite video games, my school grades, and every song I listened to. I even had a spreadsheet documenting the duration of my daily showers for an entire year. All of these datasets were accompanied by extravagant charts and graphs. It brought me joy.
~
I studied programming in college and earned my bachelor's degree in computer science in 2024. During undergrad in August 2021, I started speedrunning Cuphead in my downtime, and found it incredibly captivating. Consumed by academics and social life, I only had the time and energy to speedrun individual bosses. So I made the most of it.
Over the course of 3 years, I managed to beat or tie every IL world record on every ground boss on the current patch of Cuphead. That's 108/108 world records. Naturally, I had to keep track of these accomplishments in a spreadsheet. So I did.
With all of the data I accumulated, I was starting to feel limited by spreadsheets. I knew I could develop powerful dynamic websites if I just learned how, so I started taking web development courses. I learned a ton, but nothing motivated me more than my dream to make a website for the Cuphead speedrunning community.
~
After I graduated, I suddenly had all the time in the world. So I put my skills to use and developed several projects, one of them being the Combined Leaderboard. It was a huge success, and it brought joy to the many people who used it.
This was the start of the myekul project.
